Why Your AC Produces So Much Water

Air conditioning does more than lower the temperature — it strips moisture from the air. During a typical Western NC summer day, a residential system can extract 5 to 20 gallons of water. That moisture collects on the evaporator coil, drains into the catch pan, and exits through the condensate line. When algae, mold, or debris block that line, water backs up in the pan and eventually spills over — threatening ceilings, walls, and creating prime conditions for mold growth in your home.

How We Clear the Line and Keep It Open

Depending on the severity and location of the blockage, we use a wet/dry vacuum, a nitrogen flush, or mechanical clearing to restore flow. After the clog is gone, we treat the line with an anti-microbial solution to slow future buildup. We also check the drain pan for cracks or corrosion and test the safety float switch (if installed) to make sure it will shut the AC down before an overflow causes damage.
